Drawing

Table of Contents

I used to draw all the time when I was young. Since turning thirteen or fourteen, I don't think I can recall a single time that I drew for the sake of drawing.

Anyway, I decided the other day to get out the ol' pencil and paper, and had a go at drawing again.

Converting to svg

I've been inking my drawings using a black brush pen (this one if I recall correctly, not that it matters). Conveniently, this happens to make converting them to a digital format incredibly simple.

I can simply take a picture on my cheapo $100 phone, upload it to my laptop, and run the following command:

convert -verbose img/dog-in.jpg img/dog-out.svg
img/dog-in.jpg=>img/dog-out.svg PNM 1447x1115 1447x1115+0+0 8-bit sRGB 4.616MiB 0.060u 0:00.136

ImageMagick somehow manages to spit out a perfectly adequate svg, removing shadows and reflections appropriately.
